JCAM’s Annual Cemetery Book Burial
Participants Brave the New England Weather!

October 18, 2009 -- In spite of a New England "Nor'easter" on Sunday, October 18th, twenty-five adults and children braved a wind-swept, torrential rain to witness and participate in JCAM's Annual Book Burial at the Chevra Thillim Cemetery in West Roxbury.

Members of Temple Israel of the South Shore and Temple Tifereth Israel of Malden learned about the communal responsibility of burying sacred materials and the importance of handling these items with care and dignity.

JCAM Board Member, Rabbi Sharon Clevenger officiated the occasion as the rain-soaked group listened intently as she read a moving Psalm. All joined her in reciting the Kaddish and each person had an opportunity to place some books into the massive grave. Our book burials have become a wonderful annual outreach program to the community. Yasher Koach to all who participated!
