Huge Demand for Beit Olam Expansion!

Wayland, MA--Together with an overwhelming endorsement from the entire Metrowest Jewish community, the Board of Directors of the Jewish Cemetery Association of Massachusetts has unanimously voted to go forward with its plans to construct the Beit Olam East Cemetery in Wayland.

 Since January 2007 JCAM has undertaken an extensive outreach campaign to secure a 9-acre parcel of cemetery land that will provide an additional 7,700 gravesites for the growing Metrowest Jewish community. JCAM’s drive to obtain 1,000 reservations by May 1, 2007 has well exceeded the goal.

A number of area synagogues will be establishing sections for their communities—something that did not occur during the construction of the original Beit Olam Cemetery.  “This is not only a bold step for JCAM,” said Stanley Kaplan, JCAM Executive Director, “it also demonstrates the vision, dynamism and innovative thinking of the Jewish community.”

 Beit Olam is the only Jewish cemetery in Metrowest that serves the Jewish diversity of the community including Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist and unaffiliated Interfaith Jewish families.

The new and existing Beit Olam Cemeteries are not visible from any roadway, offering visitors an unusually secluded, peaceful, and reflective setting. The Beit Olam Cemetery, founded by Sudbury resident and now JCAM Executive Director, Stan Kaplan, will retain its unique concept design reflecting open space landscaping to guide its future development.
