2010 Spring Cemetery Tours On April 4th, I attended Temple Shir Tikva's Cemeteries Are for the Living tour at the Framingham/Natick Jewish Cemetery with my 4th grade class. My students were apprehensive about coming and about talking about the subject of death. To be honest, I wasn't looking forward to attending either! However, I found the field trip to be worthwhile and interesting and even fun. What a good idea to visit and learn about traditional Jewish customs around death at a time when we are not emotionally involved! The presentation followed by the challenges for the children (with prizes!) made it an informative and entertaining event. You held their attention and they talked about this in our next class. They were proud of what they had learned. Thank you for taking on this part of the Jewish life cycle and presenting it in a non-threatening, even positive light.

Thank you for leading such an interesting tour. We all enjoyed it and everyone remarked that they had learned something new. Thanks for the pictures. I’ll be in touch soon to schedule next year’s visit.
