Restorations Completed at Two JCAM Cemeteries
As part of our commitment to the restoration, preservation and maintenance on our more than 100 Jewish cemeteries in Massachusetts, work was completed recently at the Puritan-Mt. Sinai Cemetery on Baker Street in West Roxbury and at the Agudas Achim Cemetery in Fitchburg. These are just two of more than 100 cemeteries in Massachusetts that JCAM owns and manages.
Because of ongoing generosity and support, JCAM was able to make immediate needed improvements at both of these cemeteries. Puritan-Mt. Sinai Cemetery - Baker Street
JCAM’s most recent beautification project has taken place at the Puritan-Mt. Sinai Cemetery, Baker Street, West Roxbury, in time for the heavy visitation expected prior to the High Holy Days. Here is what our efforts have accomplishes thus far:
- Removed the old, crumbling exterior wall with a new cement wall
- Designed and installed two beautiful prayer gardens, granite benches, flowerbeds and shrubbery at the entrance and rear of the cemetery for quiet reflection.
- Installed new signage with granite posts.
- Repaired broken and crumbling walkways leading into the cemetery.
- We are in the process of raising, straightening and leveling all sunken or tilted monuments.
- We are enhancing and expanding the irrigation system of the cemetery.
Many of you have expressed your appreciation and we have received numerous compliments, some very emotional, from family members and visitors who are extremely pleased with the improvements that have been made thus far.
Agudas Achim Cemetery - Fitchburg
JCAM was also able to complete an extensive project at the Agudas Achim Cemetery in Fitchburg, Mass.
We removed all the brick and cement caps on the four pillars at the entrance to the cemetery that were in disrepair and installed a beautiful brick finish with bluestone pillar caps. We sanded, primed and painted the iron fencing between the pillars. And trimmed back most over hanging tree branches, power washed every monument and marker in the older of the cemetery as well as all walkways, walls, curbs and benches.
